Comprehensive Dental Rehabilitation
Meet our patient who presented with a fractured upper left canine that had previously supported a two-tooth bridge. In addition, several front and back teeth were missing, and some molars were deemed hopeless and required extraction. The result was a failing dentition, a worn bite, and excessive wear forces on the remaining teeth.
What the patient wanted
- Stage treatment with a focus on restoring the anterior (front) teeth first
- Regain confidence with a natural-looking smile
- Establish a stable, functional bite to support long-term oral health
Our treatment plan and sequence
1 – Extraction of hopeless molars
Removed teeth with infection and poor prognosis to eliminate sources of pain and infection and to prepare for healthier future restorations.
2 – Anterior bite stabilisation with composite bonding
Performed as an intermediate step to improve the bite and aesthetics while we planned definitive restorations.
3 – Upper right anterior reconstruction
- The root of the upper left canine could not be reused, so it was extracted
- An immediate dental implant was placed in the upper left canine site
- A bridge was placed on the canine implant to also replace the upper left lateral incisor
- A Zirconia crown was produced for the upper left first premolar to complete the anterior bite support and aesthetics
Outcome
This initial phase successfully rehabilitated the patient’s bite and delivered a confident, functional, and natural-looking smile. We plan to restore the remaining posterior teeth when the patient is ready, ensuring a harmonious and stable anterior dentition in the meantime.
