A Successful Journey to a Confident Smile

At Smile Dental Implants in Surrey, we had the pleasure of treating this lovely patient who had been facing persistent infections in her upper left incisor. She had also been unhappy with her smile for many years however her previous dentists were unable to find a solution for her.

Upon examination we discovered a root fracture in her upper left incisor, which necessitated extraction. We also found that her anterior bite was unstable and traumatic, indicating that any replacement for the upper incisor would be more effective with a new stable bite.

To address these issues we began by enhancing the structure of several teeth with composite bonding, this helped create a more comfortable and less traumatic bite. Our skilled dentists then carefully extracted the infected upper incisor and immediately placed a dental implant.

For the next four months, the patient wore a temporary bridge while the implant underwent osseointegration, this is the process whereby the bone fuses to the dental implant surface to create a stable foundation for the abutment and subsequent crown. It takes approximately 3 months for the implant and bone to integrate, at which time we placed a permanent zirconia crown on the implant, as well as on the adjacent incisors, completing the transformation.
