Dental Implant replacement and Toothwear correction: Patient Case Study
Meet our valued patient who presented with a persistently loosening lower left molar dental implant crown, originally placed at Harley Street just five years ago. The patient also reported being a bruxist—someone who grinds their teeth—and occasionally wears a nightguard. He was unhappy with the aesthetic and functional effects of tooth wear caused by grinding.
Clinical Findings:
During examination, we discovered that the dental implant had fractured, and the toothwear on his anterior teeth had progressed through the enamel and into the dentine. These issues can compromise both the appearance and longevity of your dental restorations and natural teeth.
Our Treatment Plan:
To prevent further toothwear and restore aesthetics, we employed composite bonding to cover the exposed dentine, improve the cosmetic appearance, and help stabilise the bite. The lower left dental implant was removed and replaced with a new, high-quality implant-supported crown to ensure reliable function and durability.
