Patient Journey: From Infection to Restoration
Our lovely patient came to us with a mobile crown on an infected upper left lateral incisor that had previously been recemented multiple times by another dentist. Unfortunately, the temporary solutions provided were no longer effective, and he sought a permanent fix.
Diagnosis and Treatment Plan
An X-ray revealed an abscess beneath the tooth root, with little remaining structure to support it. During the clinical examination, we noticed that the lower incisors had drifted into a position that was damaging the upper incisors, leading to further complications.
To address these issues, we implemented a two-pronged approach:
1. Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy: Over a period of 6 months, we utilised Invisalign to realign the patient’s teeth. This not only improved the bite but also created a more harmonious relationship between the upper and lower teeth.
2. Dental Implant Placement: While the Invisalign treatment was underway, we removed the compromised upper left lateral incisor and placed a dental implant. Four months later, a definitive crown was placed, completing the restoration.

The Results: A Beautiful, Functional Smile
The before and after images clearly illustrate the transformation. With the lower teeth realigned, the final bite is less destructive, enhancing the longevity of the remaining teeth. Additionally, maintaining proper hygiene is now much simpler with the straightened teeth.
