Following years of gum disease and unstable teeth, our patient transformed her smile with dental implants and a fixed zirconia bridge.
Meet our patient who faced long-standing gum disease and unstable teeth in the upper jaw. Struggling with anxiety about dental treatment and wearing dentures, she believed her smile couldn’t be improved. After committing to better oral hygiene and quitting smoking, she pursued a fixed, long-lasting solution: dental implants with a metal-reinforced zirconia bridge.
Case Overview:
- Initial challenges: Gum disease, wobbly upper teeth, and denture dependency.
- Patient goal: A fixed, natural-looking smile with reliable bite function.
- Plan: Staged dental implants with bone augmentation, followed by a provisional bridge and then a final chrome-reinforced porcelain (zirconia) bridge.
Why This Approach Works
- Fixed restoration: Eliminates the need for removable dentures and preserves adjacent teeth.
- Bone augmentation (sinus graft): Restores sufficient bone height for reliable implant support.
- PRF-enhanced healing: Platelet-Rich Fibrin accelerates soft-tissue healing and bone integration.
- CAD/CAM zirconia bridge: Precision-scanned, milled, and hand-finished for exceptional strength and aesthetics.
- Chrome-reinforced porcelain (Zirconia) bridge: Combines metal strength with ceramic aesthetics for a natural look.
Treatment Timeline
Stage 1: Sinus Graft for Upper Right Molar Region
- Perform a bone graft in the maxillary sinus area to improve bone height.
- Mix graft material with PRF to enhance healing.
- Anticipated maturation: approximately 6 months to mature into healthy, load-bearing bone.
Stage 2: Immediate Implant Placement and Provisional Bridge
- Extract remaining compromised upper teeth as needed.
- Place six dental implants at the same visit.
- Fit an immediately placed provisional bridge to restore function and aesthetics.
- Note: Provisional restorations require care during the early healing phase.
Stage 3: Final Restoration
- After about 4 months of healing, transition to a final Chrome-reinforced Porcelain (Zirconia) bridge.
- 3D accuracy achieved via photogrammetry scans and CAD/CAM milling.
- Hand-finishing by our skilled lab technicians ensures a lifelike result.
Outcome
- Dramatic improvement in aesthetics, function, and confidence.
- Insufficient bone height in the upper jaw requiring augmentation.
- Bite concerns or wear patterns that affect comfort and function.
