Restorative Rehabilitation of a Patient With Tooth Wear
An elderly gentleman came to Smile Dental Implants in Worcester Park and was facing years of neglected tooth wear on his lower incisors. He was struggling to eat comfortably, with a painful lower right premolar.
A previous dentist had recommended extracting this infected tooth, but the patient sought a second opinion with our restorative dentist here in Worcester Park, especially since he already had a limited bite on the right side.
The patient also had a crack in his upper central crown that needed attention.
To address these issues, we utilised composite bonding to restore the worn surfaces of his lower incisors, establishing a stable bite position. For the gap and tooth wear on his lower left side, we designed and manufactured a porcelain bridge to fit his new bite perfectly.

Our restorative dental team in Surrey also performed a root canal treatment (RCT) on the lower right premolar to eliminate the infection, followed by placing a dental crown to restore strength and function.
While our patient is still missing his lower right molars and has a few cosmetic concerns with his upper posterior teeth, he is now infection-free and can eat with confidence and comfort. As shown in the dental radiographs below, the infection has been completely eliminated after root canal treatment 12 months ago.
